And it just might rub some people the wrong way...quite frankly just might piss some of you right off, but that's okay because sometimes...that is what it takes. It's what it took for me ~
I know that the title of my blog is "Secrets of a blonde" BUT (and I mean a big BUTT) ~ today we are going to discover the secrets of skinny girls (people).
Having ALWAYS struggled with keeping my weight down it is no wonder I gained a shocking 87lbs with my son. I was not "thin" or "fit" to begin with, so after he was born I still needed to loose 95lbs to be where I felt comfortable in my own skin. NOT skinny... just MY skinny. Now, having said that... I feel that I have a right...Noooo a DUTY to tell other people that I've been to the bottom of the pit and I have CLIMED my fat ass out!!! and for GOOD!
OH WHY in the world has the United States become not only a SUPER POWER...(which I DO NOT understand anyways ~ especially when we; as a Nation are in debt up to are eyeballs) but a SUPER PEOPLE ~ (and I don't mean that we are GREAT either)
What is it with us? I mean did we really need the SUPER SIZED menu at the golden arches? Did we really need the golden arches to begin with? OHHH how it saddens me to see people that are SHOVED into their cars (And I don't mean because they are 6 ft-2 driving a Honda Prius either...) They can barely FIT let alone add more to their waistline. I'm not trying to be mean, but there is NOOOO reason on God's green earth why we are airing shows like Fattest toddler/teenager... REALLY? Seriously? Are we proud of this?
Now....I it is with seriousness that I will tell you that my heart actually breaks when I see this.
It is NOT their fault at such a young age and it makes me sooo freaking angry. How in the world do we expect them to succeed as adults (if they make it; as the mortality rate is staggering for these kids) and be healthy when all they've learned is how to be FAT.
That's right... being fat is NOT genetic ~ it is a LEARNED characteristic! There! I said it!!! It's a HABBIT folks... lets all stop lying to ourselves and lying to each other and just get over it...rip the band aid off ~ IF you are overweight or know someone who is...it's because you/they are not TRYING
to be ANY other way. (that's not saying that there are not some people that are unfortunately overweight because of a disease or a debilitating problem)
You haven't gotten to the point where you WANT to be any other way... and why would you when society as a whole is sooo freaking TOLERANT of "diversity" (and yet there is still prejudices with people and skin color ~ go figure!! BUT that's a whole OTHER subject...)
I'm not saying that people that are overweight should be flogged ~ NOT at ALL!!! What I'm saying is what did we expect when EVERYTHING we do revolves around FOOD people!!!
Dates...food
Girls night out...food, snacks, wine
Avon, Mary Kay, Party-Lite, Tupperware _______ parties (you fill in the blank of your "home party" here)
Family "get togethers"...food
Business meetings...food
even guys too...
SUPER-BOWL sunday...food
get the point?
The diet industry is a MULTIMILLION dollar industry and do you know why??? Truth be told...
People just don't like what they see/feel, but are TOO LAZY TO CHANGE!!!
Again...I'm sure I touched a nerve.
We ALL (myself included) want a QUICK FIX...but the facts are that there is NOOOO quick fix people!!!
It's A LOT of HARD WORK and DETERMINATION!!! BUT the rewards are soooo awesome.
Yep, it's not easy to change the whole way that you view food/exercise and no it's not fun to stay up late or get up at the crack of dawn to exercise ~ and that is another thing... we are sooo tolerant of DIVERSITY in this country, but do you think for one minute that CORPORATE freaking America could just MAYBE allow a person who may not have ALL the time in the world to exercise (i.e they just might be the one who puts dinner on the table after putting in a 9-10 hour work day or just MAYBE might have to get their kids at practice/school and therefore, just might have a LIFE outside of work) and allow people to either come in earlier or come in later to allow for that... and that it just MIGHT make us a "happier" people...JUST "food" for thought (see it's even in our vocabulary)!
So...yes, what I'm saying is that it's NOT easy and it's NOT always fun (in the beginning) BUTT
(pun intended) I can assure you that once you start thinking this way and doing what you know you need to do ~ Putting in hard work and effort ~ that this too will become a habit ~ AND PLEASE FOR GOD sake PLEASE instill it into our children's minds EARLY~
Now I'm sure that there are some of you reading this right now saying... "Hey..wait a minute...how dare this skinny bitch say all of this...I like who I am and I don't care that I'm fat." BULLSH!# on that!!!
There is NOOO one and I mean noooo one that is going to sit there and tell me that they'd rather be FAT than thinner (not skinny) and healthy and feel the way you do when you are eating right and exercising... your forgetting people...I've been to the other side and it AINT pretty!!!
So, yeah...I am allowed to sit here and say... NO FREAKING WAY!!! Sorry, I'm not going to make excuses or have tolerance for that type of thinking... WHY? Because, chances are...the reason that you even started reading this blog was because of the title ~ it caught your interest and you wanted to knowt what the secret really is ~ hmmmm ~ am I right?

You know good and well that the reason you even clicked on my blog was because it peaked your curiosity.
I hear it ALL the time... "oh, I wish I could be as thin as you" or "yeah, well sure that's easy for you...look at you...your sooo thin" or my favorite..."I wish I could loose weight, but no matter what I do...it just doesn't seem to want to come off."
and then I BLOW their freaking minds!!!! Well, no it's not easy..I KNOW...

I used to weigh 250lbs. (THEIR JAWS always DROP) followed by... "WHAT, nooo..." "I don't believe it...you're sooo skinny..." want to know their VERY next words out of their mouths???
"How did you do it?"
So, don't tell me that people LOVE being FAT and overweight and unhealthy...and that they don't want to know how other's are thin and healthy...statistics don't lie ~ There are books, and guides and CDs and DVDs and movies ~ it's a PANDEMIC people!!

So, I swear I'll scream if I hear one more person say "Oh, how I wish I could look as good as you...and lose this weight, if only I had the time." SHUT UP and JUST DO IT!!!! (hey...why do you think that Nike made/and is making still to this day...a FOrTUNe on this saying)
Seriously though...what you NEED to do is STOP EATING!!! (now I know you have to eat something)
GUESS guess what?? have an apple or some fruit or here's a thought... eat some grains and less meat (oh I can hear it now..."ohh...she's a freaking vegetarian!!") NOPE! you are right...I don't eat red meat or pork, but that's something I've never enjoyed..but I do eat chicken, fish, and eggs etc.)
Hey... you want to lose weight and be a healthier version of you... EAT LESS AND MOVE MORE FOLKS ~ No BIG secret there!!!

Hey, I too enjoy a chocolate brownie sundae on occasion ~ operative word being OCCASION!
and when I do... I know I've got to make up for that and go lighter on the dinner or maybe just have something small before or after that and I might run a little more that night or stretch a little more in yoga class ~ BALANCE!
ALL things in life are BALANCE!!! Diet, exercise, finances, careers, family....
Without it...we would ALL be running around like chickens with are heads cut off... OH WAIT~ we are...hmmmmm (and that is a whole other blog)
Boy is that some food for thought... I mean ~uggggh
That's something to think about!
So, secret's out! You want to be a thinner/healthier version of you... It's up to YOU!
You're going to have to WORK at it...(that's why it's called "working" out at the gym/home) and it's not going to happen overnight...AND you will undoubtedly fall off the wagon here and there... BUT you can always run a little faster and JUMP BACK ON! You're not a failure...
You are going to have to think of FOOD as something that doesn't necessarily have to taste Exquisite ALL the time. Sometimes (actually more often that not) it's just about FILLING THE VOID in your stomach... (nope not much fun...not all the time) YOU can have fun doing other things....like
RIDING your bike with your kids/grandkids on a nice summer day
taking your kids/grandkids to the gym with you in the wintertime and showing them all you've learned
running your first marathon or even walking it...when you're 70yrs old
playing touch football though your 40's and 50's...baseball...my goodness...dodge ball!!!
OR ~ for all you wanna-bees ~
Have all the men drop their jaws when YOU walk by on the beach in your bikini...and having your boyfriend/husband be jealous (instead of you being jealous of him looking at someone else)!!!
FUN can happen in a multitude of ways and it ABSOLUTELY does NOT have to involve FOOD!
You can all do it!!! I'm sure... I know i did!
